While in Europe President Obama has received gifts from the Czech Government which were given to the Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek to give to the First Family for their First Dog. The bowls and beds were made by the Lillibed Company of Europe made especially for First Dogs of America -namely the Obama’s First Dog.

Jennifer Aniston Dog Norman Critically Sick

Jennifer Aniston is sick with worry over the health her beloved dog, Norman.

The 14-year-old Corgi-Terrier, is one of the most pampered pooches in Hollywood, but Norman was recently diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening digestive problem, according to OK! Magazine.

“Norman is old and hasn”t been doing well. She’’s terrified her best friend could soon be gone,” a tipster divulged.

The 40-year-old actress is very fond of animals and also has a three-year-old white shepherd named Dolly.

Martha Stewart’s Dog Dies in Kennel Explosion

The dog belonging to Martha Stewart has died after an explosion rocked the kennel where it was staying.

It is believed that propane was to blame for the explosion at the Pennsylvania kennel that killed Genghis Khan, Stewart’s Chow puppy.

The explosion occurred during a propane delivery to the kennel on Saturday, and also injured the driver of the delivery truck.

In total 17 dogs were killed in the explosion.

On her blog, Stewart expressed condolences for the injury sustained by the driver of the truck, and for the death of her own dog, plus the other 16 animals.

Obama’s pick for First Dog thrills Portugal

News that a Portuguese Water Dog will become the First Canine of the United States is thrilling lovers of the breed in its native land, who say Barack Obama’s family couldn’t have picked better.

“It’s been more than 500 years that these dogs have played a part in great moments of humanity,” raved Hugo Oliveira of the Association for the Protection of Water Dogs, which champions the poodle-like breed in Portugal.

“It could be one of ours. Why not?” Carla Peralta, a Water Dog breeder in the southern Algarve region, told the popular 24 Horas daily.

Peralta’s bitch is expecting puppies at Easter time — around the period that the Obamas hope to get their dog.

Speaking to People magazine this week, First Lady Michelle Obama confirmed that the family is looking to adopt an unwanted Portuguese Water Dog, whose hypoallergenic coat would suit allergy-prone older daughter Malia.

“Temperamentally they’re supposed to be pretty good,” she said. “From the size perspective, they’re sort of middle of the road… And the folks that we know who own them have raved about them.”

With a history going back to pre-Christian times, the Portuguese Water Dog travelled with world with 15th century Portuguese explorers, swimming between ships with its webbed feet.

Fishermen meanwhile used them to recover lost nets and guard boats.

Marley and Me – 22 dogs used

Dog lovers will be lining up to catch Marley and Me, a tale about the so-called “worst dog in the world”.

But even if you’re not a dog person, you might find something to admire and enjoy in this playful comedy that also manages to be a three tissue tear jerker.

Based upon the autobiographical book by journalist and columnist John Grogan, Marley and Me follows John (played by Owen Wilson) and Jenny (Jennifer Aniston) as they move to Florida shortly after their wedding.

Both journalists, they land jobs at competing newspapers. John, who dreams of being a serious investigative journalist, is stuck with doing fairly mundane local stories.

Jenny, meanwhile, is planning out their lives, and now they have a new city, a new home and new jobs, John is worried the baby will come next.

Not sure if he’s cut out for fatherhood, he convinces Jen to get a dog instead. Enter Marley, dubbed “clearance puppy” due to his cheap price and named after the legendary reggae star.

This dog has a very forceful personality, and seems unable or unwilling to obey the simplest commands. Over the years John and Jenny put up with the destroyed furniture, constant barking and sloppy kisses, because the dog’s just too lovable.

John even hits the big time at work when he starts writing a column about Marley. He learns that sometimes the most important member of the family walks on all fours.
